Case Study - Prominent Vaping Retailer running on Adobe Commerce Cloud

Overview

VDC (vaping.com) came to us as a new business with a clear design and outline of what they wanted to achieve back in 2016. The team at outer/edge leaped at the chance to build their vision and turn it into reality. The Magento 1 website we built was still running in the US until 2021, taking in millions per year.

Over the following years we worked closely together to increase revenue, conversions and site performance. Within the first year of launching, vaping.com went from zero to multi million turnover and continued to grow exponentially.

Our relationship continued to florish and when Magento 2 was released we were again trusted with the task of building the new website. The business continued to grow until we were sadly victims of the website's success. VDC received a huge investment, the terms of which required them to use the investors preferred agency.

Over the coming years we would touch base occassionally to make sure Vaping.com was still continuing to succeed. In early 2023, after vaping.com had moved through multiple renowned agencies, they brought their business back home to us! They had key targets they needed to hit in order to sell the business (targets which the larger agencies seemed unable to hit). Their return allowed us to focus time on building our fantastic customer portal we use today. After 6 months back with us, VDC was successfully sold.

It was the first company we have taken from the very beginning through to exit. A fantastic journey and we look forward to working with the former owners on their next e-commerce venture.
