Instil Urgency and Provide Nudges

Creating a sense of urgency is one of the best ways to boost the conversion rates on your website. This taps into our ingrained tribal survival psychology to not miss out. This phenomenon is more commonly referred to as FOMO (Fear of Missing Out), and is a powerful psychological quirk we can utilise to boost sales.
Create Nudges
Highlighting your CTA buttons is a really useful way of encouraging users to follow the path you want them to take. This could be having a subtle animation to your button or having it change colour every few seconds. Subtly hint the paths you'd like your customers to take. We really like the example on the CTA button on this site Chefsforfoodies.com
Create Scarcity
Displaying low stock levels or “hurry only 1 left” really helps trigger that FOMO phenomenon. Amazon utilise this feature to great affect on their product pages, where they only notify users when there are less than 10 in stock.
Create competition
This is certainly something that has worked on me many times. When booking a hotel room seeing the message “8 others are viewing this now” really triggers both my competitive and FOMO brain. Create competition from your customers by displaying how many people have looked at or purchased the product within a timeframe. This is also known as Social Proof.
Conclusion
Instilling urgency on your site isn’t a big overhaul and is often as simple as displaying deadlines.
One of the tools we recommend to rapidly implement some of these features is Nudgify.
